Marked: "V" / "P" / eagle head / "P" on left side of barrel; top of breech block is marked "U.S. / MODEL / 1884"; lockplate is marked w/ eagle next to "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD"; buttplate tang is marked "U.S."; cartouche on left side of stock wrist is marked "SWP / 1891); "M" stamp / cartouche behind trigger guard tang
